Here's an interesting quote! It is specifically about undergrad premed preparation, but it would also apply to predental and prepharmacy students.
"To be successful, medical students must be able
to read rapidly and with understanding. They also must be able to express
thoughts clearly and concisely. Premedical students should develop a solid
background in the humanities, philosophy and the arts. Understanding human
relationships and human nature is vital to the practice of medicine. Students
are encouraged to take courses which would be difficult to acquire after
the college experience is completed. The School of Medicine seeks to admit
well-rounded students with broad backgrounds and diverse experiences."

Hmmm. You know what that sounds like? It sounds like a succinct description of a graduate of the EKU Honors Program -- who has presented at some honors conferences, and taken some humanities and social/behavioral sciencecourses beyond the minimal Honors Program requirements, and completed an honors thesis -- that's what!!!
You should realize that being a successful, active Honors Program student will give you a definite advantage when it comes time to apply to the professional school of your choice. But there is a good bit more that you can and should do to enhance your chances of career success besides just being in the Honors Program, and you should start doing them now; don't wait until just before you apply for admission several years from now! These pages give you good suggestions about how to prepare yourself. Read them, think about them, start planning, and take action!
