The first three pages (by Stace) are one view, the rest are a general overview of the issues by Taylor.
1) Which of Taylor's categories (hard determinism, soft determinism, indeterminism, agency), if any, does Stace's view fit into? Explain why, building on things said by both Stace and Taylor. Note that Stace says that responsibility requires determinism.
2) Provide informed speculation as to how Stace would respond to Darrow (in the box on p. 229). In 1924 Loeb was a brilliant 18 yr. old college graduate, son of a prominent and wealthy Chicago family, fascinated with detective fiction, who with the 19 yr old Leopold (of similar background) tried to commit "the perfect crime" by kidnaping, holding for ransom, and then murdering a 14 yr. old boy.
3) What seems to be Taylor's own view on determinism, and why?
